So, last week, some friends from work wanted to go to Hinano’s, a good Venice Beach burger joint. We rally the troops and hop into Casey’s car. As we’re walking up to the door, we see something posted on it. It’s an official Department of Health notice, telling us that Hinano’s is in violation, due to vermin infestation. Dejected, we turn around and wonder what to do now.

I see this Mediterranean place, Gaby’s, that I really like. After a bit of coaxing, I talk the group into eating there. It was noticed that Gaby’s had an “A” rating hanging in the window, so hey, at least we’re eating someplace clean now, right? We sit down, get drinks, order our dishes, and start waiting for our food. A lady with a clipboard passes us and takes down the “A” sign - clearly she’s a health inspector. A guy in our group, Michael, turns to her as she walks by and asks “So what are you changing it to, ‘failed’?” She doesn’t answer. A few minutes later, she walks back up and hangs a new sign in the window. Notice of Violation. Vermin. After we finish laughing about this situation, we get up and walk out of the restaurant.

We then opted for Plan C - In & Out Burger. All that trouble just to end up at In & Out… It wasn’t a very good lunch break.
